Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pilates?
Pilates is an evolving body conditioning exercise system, with a set of principles that include breathing, alignment and centering.
I am new to Pilates. Should I join a group or start one to one?
I would always suggest that at least one individual session is useful before embarking on a small group.
What can I expect from a first group session?
I would ask you to arrive 5 minutes early to fill in a brief general health questionnaire and meet the others. You can expect a gentle but deep exercise session, which will leave you much more relaxed and bodily aware.
What can I expect from a first private session?
The first private session will be, on average, 15 minutes longer than the usual sessions. This is so that I can take a detailed history to assess your current state of health and level of fitness. I will also undertake a postural assessment and look at your specific goals.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Mats are not provided. If you wish to bring your own mat you are very welcome.
What do I need to wear?
Wear loose clothing that is easy to move in. Leggings and tee shirt are ideal. Pilates is usually done with bare feet or in socks.
How long Does a Pilates session last?
The usual length for a Pilates session is one hour.
What do I do if I am late for a session?
Always text or ring if you are going to be late.
How much do you charge?
Please contact me for details.
Do you offer refunds for missed group sessions?
No, but I do offer the opportunity for people to make up their lost session by attending another of my small groups during the 5 week block.
What if I need to cancel my private session?
If you cancel with 48 hours notice, I will refund or offer you another session date.
What if I realise that it is not for me and have already done a couple of sessions?
In this instance, I will refund you for the sessions that you have not yet done.
